A workshop organized by CIM/UVigo brought together 27 scientists from different countries in the Redeiras building for 4 days. Several sessions of talks, microscopes, fieldwork, debates and discussions, allowed an intense exchange of knowledge and cutting-edge research, the identification of problems and needs, and the establishment of priorities in future research on biodiversity and the functioning of marine ecosystems, using dinoflagellate cysts as the main study tool.
I invite you to read the article summarizing the main results and the activities carried out that has just been published in the IOC Newsletter on harmful algae: http://www.e-pages.dk/ku/1579/
I am very proud and happy to have had the opportunity to organize such an event, and I am deeply grateful to the rest of the scientific and organizing committee (Vera Pospelova, Ana Amorim, Kenneth Mertens, Karin Zonneveld) for their support, the University of Vigo, Daniel Rey and the rest of the CIM (Centro de Investigación Mariñas) staff who helped me in the organisation, and of course to all the participants for making it possible!
